PARTNERS WITH Wheel Shop Management COMPANY

Simmons Machine Tool
Corporation (Simmons) has entered into an agreement with Arkansas
Industrial Computing, Inc. (AIC) to enhance their wheel shop maintenance
systems. AIC will supply Simmons with state-of-the-art computerized
Wheel Press Recording and Wheel Shop Management Systems.
These systems are used in conjunction with freight, transit, and
locomotive Wheel Presses manufactured by Simmons.
This agreement will advance the technology of Simmons’ wheel
shop equipment providing our customers with higher productivity levels
and significantly improving their data management capabilities.
Simmons has been in business
since 1910 and is the market leader in providing high-quality
maintenance equipment to the Transit and Rail Road industries on a
global basis. Simmons
manufactures a comprehensive line of machine tools used in the
maintenance of wheel sets. Benefits
from the use of such equipment include increased railway safety,
extended wheel life, and improved vehicle ride quality.
AIC has designed a Wheel Shop
Management System (WSMS) that utilizes the latest technology in data
collection hardware in conjunction with their proprietary software. The
WSMS uses a combination of industrial computers, hand-held barcode
scanners and wireless barcode scanners to simplify the data collection
process and speed production. AIC’s Wheel Press Recording Systems
generate mounting diagrams and provides information, which simplifies
data, retrieval, reports, inspections and supervisory functions.
The Agreement between Simmons and
AIC will confirm Simmons’ commitment to providing our customers with
high quality machine tools with the most advanced integrated information
systems available. Simmons
will continue to achieve business excellence by listening to our
customers and meeting their needs, through continuous improvements in
our products, processes, and services.
