The Wheel Shop Management System (WSMS) utilizes the latest technology in data collection hardware. The WSMS uses a combination of industrial computers, hand-held barcode scanners and wireless barcode scanners to simplify the data collection process and speed production.

Hand-held computers with integrated barcode scanners are used for collecting data in remote locations to accurately transfer information to the WSMS.

Wheel Press Recording System
The Automated Wheel Press Recorder (WPR) is a computerized system for recording pressure while mounting train wheels allowing the operator to know immediately if wheels are misfits. The WPR is the cornerstone product of our Wheel Shop Management System.

Universal Press Recording System
The Universal Press Recorder (UPR) is a computerized system for recording pressure while mounting axle assemblies or train wheels, axles, gears, and discs. The UPR was developed to meet the needs of locomotive wheel shops and t
ransit wheel shops. The UPR can record mounting diagrams for wheels, bearings, gears, gear boxes, discs and anything else you put on an axle that produces a pressure chart. The UPR includes a Bearing Spike Control function. View some of the UPR screens.

Chart Manager
The primary component of the Wheel Shop Management System that is used to track production in a wheel shop is the Chart Manager.

Other Data Collection Systems
The Shipping Manifest System allows you to quickly scan wheel serial numbers and download them to a personal computer for printing truck manifests.

The Misfit Tracking System tracks demounted wheels according to AAR Rule 1.E.1 traceability requirements

The Bearing Tracking option adds bearing serial number and mounting information to your wheelset.

The Incoming Inspection Station allows the tread lathe operator to print a barcode label for the axle and the wheels. This barcode will then be used for bearing tracking and shipping information. This station also collects quality data for the tread lathe, such as reject quantities and reasons for rejection.

The Axle Tracking System allows the operator to scan the axle barcode on an axle taken out of inventory and select the end customer to which the axle will be shipped when processing is complete.  This data is then uploaded to the PC database to provide reports to the axle manufacturer.

Car Assembly Tracking incorporates the capability to track wheelset assemblies through the car assembly stage.
